Gradients

For many many brushes, you can assign a unique block for each location, and adjust the mixing and falloff strengths using these buttons in the menu. Notably, the gradients can follow any shape without being restricted to a specific axis or straight line, unlike with other tools.

Here's what happens when both options are set to high values.
